Final Cut Pro X

Learn how to edit like a professional in five hands-on sessions. The course focuses on editing styles and building an understanding of how to edit using Final Cut Pro.  

This course will look at the various styles of editing, as well as gaining an understanding of the fundamentals of the art form. Learn the technical and emotional elements involved in crafting a story. 

You’ll explore and analyse examples, looking at the structure, visual narrative and technical elements that make up professional-quality video content. You will learn to use this powerful production tool to an advanced level. 

Video footage and course materials will be provided to help strengthen your learning.

Session One / Intro to Digital Editing


Hard drives  Computer  basics and Setting up premiere projects.   

Session Two / Get Organised

Organisation of your project, Bins Sequences syncing  and more to prepare your footage for editing. 

Session Three / How to Edit

Telling a story with, keyboard editing understanding tools for the complete understanding of editing on the timeline. 

Session Four / Finishing the edit

Mastering audio, grading and exporting to YouTube, Vimeo, DVD

Session Five / Open Session

Bring your own personal projects for advice and follow up.

This workshop is suitable for anyone with basic Mac skills who wants to learn how to edit professional-quality video with FCPX. For this course you will need to bring along your own MacBook Pro/ Macbook computer with FCPX  installed. If you don't  FCPX you can download a free trial copy from Apple.
